About

Welcome to Baking Off the Shelf!

Blogging my attempts at recipes in cookbooks I borrow from my local library and my resulting kitchen adventures.

Hello! My name is Mimi. I am a home cook and library lover. I am forever checking out cookbooks from my local library…but I never actually make anything from them. One night, while looking at my large stack of overdue cookbooks that I hadn’t even opened, I had an idea: What if I started blogging my attempts at recipes from library cookbooks? A blog would be an excellent way to motivate myself to actually make something from the cookbooks I borrow, and practice my kitchen skills. And so, I came up with the idea for Baking Off the Shelf!

I live just outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All the cookbooks I feature and review are from either the Chester County Library System or Montgomery County Library System — the two library systems I frequent!

Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know if you also try a recipe — I would love to hear how it works out for you! You can email me at bakingofftheshelf [at] gmail [dot] com, tag me on Instagram (#bakingofftheshelf), leave a comment, or send me a note via the contact page.

And don’t forget to check out your local library’s cookbook collection!
